Emily Artist Statement

Artist’s Statement

Exploration of the history of man and his environments is a primary driving influence of my artworks. I want to convey a variety of themes regarding history, decay, stagnancy, motion, form, function, humanity and horror. My three-dimensional works such as clothing design, taxidermy, and sculpture attempt to engage natural forms in unison with calculated structure. My two-dimensional painting and drawing pieces are usually more concept driven and aim to capture multi-dimensional narratives through non-conventional means of representation. However, I cannot say with any conviction that my artwork consistently conveys one particular subject through any one particular style.
